Something new caught my eye at Sprout Market today. Have you seen these Nairn’s Gluten Free Cookies in your area? Nairn’s are made in Scotland and are made using an old traditional way which had been passed down through their family for generations.
Nairn’s uses certified gluten free oats to make a gluten free line of oat cookies, oatcakes, porridge, biscuits, and crackers. I only saw the oatmeal raisin cookies in the store so I bought a box.
I did a semester abroad in London many years ago and I had the opportunity to travel around Scotland. The one thing I had remembered was the thin biscuit style cookies in all of the cafes. I used to love eating them with my coffee. These cookies were thin, but very dense and filling. These cookies by Nairn’s have that same style of goodness. Another thing I really like about these cookies is that they are not really sweet like a typical cookie. These oatmeal raisin cookies have a very mild sweet taste.
You can see how thin this cookie is. It is about a millimeter thick.
