How to make Cold Brew
I grew up in New England drinking Dunkin’ Donuts coffee so I was thrilled when they asked me to try their new cold brew. They make it so easy! You just need to do these three simple steps:
- Add 4 cups of water and 2 Dunkin’ Donuts coffee packs to a 2-quart pitcher
- Steep in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours.
- Remove the coffee packets and add 3 more cups of water.
- Enjoy! (Okay, technically this isn’t a step in making this cold brew, but it is my favorite part!!)
Once you have your cold brew, you can enjoy it so many ways! I love it over ice with a little bit of agave to sweeten…but on really hot days, I prefer an affogato.
What is an affogato?
An affogato is an Italian dessert where you pour espresso over ice cream. I love this dessert, but I don’t like when all of my ice cream melts in hot coffee. I decided to try my favorite dessert using cold brew so that my ice cream stays cold.
There is something special about coffee and coconut ice cream flavors…they work beautifully together!
Now that we made our cold brew…it is time to make our no-churn coconut ice cream. This recipe whips up really quickly. Most of the time is spent letting the ice cream freeze.
How to make no-churn dairy-free ice cream
The first thing you need is two cold cans of full-fat coconut milk. Use a spoon to scoop it into a blender.
Full fat coconut milk when cold is a bit tough to get out of the can. I made the mistake of trying to force a spoon too hard to scoop out the hardened coconut milk and it exploded all over me!
TIP: I suggest gradually scraping the hardened coconut fat off the top until it is thin enough to poke a hole through to the liquid halfway inside the can. Pour it all into the blender.
Add the second can of coconut milk, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup coconut condensed milk. Whip the coconut milk until it seems about double the volume.
Whipped Coconut Cream
This is what the whipped cold coconut milk looks like when it is thick and creamy.
Pour the mixture into a loaf pan or other freezer-safe container. Add unsweetened shredded coconut and mix gently with a spoon. Freeze the dairy-free coconut ice cream for 4 hours until firm.
When the ice cream is ready, remove it from the freezer. Add a scoop of the cinnamon coconut ice cream to the glass. Pour some Dunkin’ Donuts Cold Brew into the glass over the coconut ice cream.
Dip your spoon in and enjoy this cinnamon affogato!!

- 28 ounces coconut milk, 2 cans full fat, very cold!
- 1/4 cup condensed coconut milk
- 1 cup coffee
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Add the very cold coconut milk to a Vitamix or blender.
- Add the condensed milk and cinnamon. (Feel free to add shredded coconut if you like!)
- Whip the coconut milk mixture until it doubles in size and is creamy.
- Pour into a freezer safe container and freeze for 4 hours.
- Scoop ice cream out and place in a coffee mug or glass. Pour Dunkin' Donuts Cold Brew on top and serve.
(*If you can't find coconut condensed milk, and you are okay with dairy, feel free to use regular condensed milk.)
