This thick and creamy miso caramel mousse is a deliciously decadent dessert that is so easy to make!
Have you ever used miso in a dessert recipe? I have to admit that I was skeptical that anything with miso would taste good.
When I made a miso caramel sauce recipe from Yahoo! Food, I had a lot of caramel sauce leftover. (This post was sponsored by Yahoo! Food, all sweet opinions are my own!)
We topped ice cream and it was delicious. We added it to our morning coffee, and that was good too :-).
We still had a lot of this caramel sauce leftover…..What else could I do with the extras?
My kids, who are famous in our house for their “sweet teeth” asked me to make a mousse. I was a bit surprised because they tend to like the more traditional chocolate mousse. They really love my Raspberry Mousse and my White Chocolate Mocha Mousse.
I was game to give it a try, as long as they helped me make it.
Mousse is one of those really easy recipes. You can find the recipe to make the miso caramel sauce above. If you want to use regular caramel, you can follow the recipe linked above excluding the miso, OR you can use a caramel sauce in a jar.
I used chilled organic heavy cream and whipped it until it formed stiff peaks.
Once the cream was whipped, I added the miso caramel and blended it in gently. Chill for a couple of hours. Serve with whipped cream and caramel drizzled on top!

How to make miso caramel mousse:
- 1 cup miso caramel, or any caramel
- 1 1/2 cup organic heavy cream, chilled
- 1 1/2 teaspoon gelatin
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Mix gelatin and cold water in a small dish and let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, add heavy cream.
- With an electric mixer, beat whipped cream until it forms stiff peaks.
- Add gelatin and mix until blended.
- With a spoon or spatula, gently fold in caramel sauce.
- Chill for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator.
