Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is Carneros’ original sparkling wine house, owned and founded by the Ferrer family of Spain. For my pairing, I decided to make an appetizer that is perfect for a lazy day at the pool. These red, white and blue skewers are great because you can hold one without having to put your glass down :-).
Fresh juicy watermelon, fresh mozzarella cheese, and blueberries taste so good together. Drizzle on a balsamic honey sauce to make them even better.
This appetizer is so easy to make. Grab a star-shaped cookie cutter and you are ready!
Cut out a lot of stars because your guests will want to eat a lot of these :-).
How to make watermelon and mozzarella fruit skewers:
- 1 watermelon, seedless
- 1 pound mozzarella
- 1 cup blueberries
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Slice watermelon and use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes in the watermelon.
- To assemble the skewers: add blueberries first. Next is the mozzarella. Last, stick the toothpick into the watermelon star.
- Mix the balsamic vinegar and honey in a small bowl.
- Once the tray is full, drizzle the balsamic sauce over the skewers.
