If you love Kahlua drinks, this creamy vanilla orange coffee martini is a great cocktail for you to try. Perfect for happy hour, or a party. Rock sugar makes a beautiful sugared rim to accent this drink.
This drink has been a long time coming. All of the cocktail recipes I have created have been centered on fruit. Fresh fruity drinks are refreshing because I love fruit….but I wasn’t paying tribute to my sweet tooth. I love sweet creamy drinks too.
You will love how this mixed drink bursts with creamy coffee, orange and vanilla flavors. A little like a mudslide, but with an orange vanilla twist!
There are two stars of this drink. First Kahlua, which is my very favorite coffee liquor. (This is an unsolicited plug, I just love this product. I wasn’t compensated by Kahlua in any way.) The richness of the coffee flavor in this liquor is the base for this drink.
If you don’t want to buy Kahlua, it is very easy to make your own homemade coffee liquor.
Homemade Vanilla Cream
The second most important ingredient is this vanilla cream sauce recipe that I created for my alternate comfort food site, Grandma’s Recipes Made Gluten Free. This is the sauce you would want to slather onto bread pudding, cake or even ice cream. It adds a creaminess to this cocktail recipe that is so good. But I am digressing from my yummy happy hour cocktail.
How to make a coffee martini:
Not only do I use the vanilla cream in this mixed drink recipe, but I also use it to help the sugar stick to the rim. The homemade vanilla sauce is sticky and perfect for this.
Next, dip the sticky martini glass rim into rock sugar. I found this one in the sprinkle section of my grocery store. It is by a company called Wilton.
Add all of the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Allow chilling for 2 minutes. Strain into a martini glass. This cocktail is also delicious on the rocks if you want your drink to stay cold longer.

Things You Need To Make This Recipe:
- A bartender shaker and strainer set. This helps make it so easy to chill cocktails.
- Cute martini glassware.
- 3 ounces Kahlua
- 1 ounce orange liquor
- 1 tablespoon vanilla cream
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- In an ice filled shaker, add all ingredients.
- Put the lid on and shake. Allow to sit on ice while you sugar the rim
- Put a little vanilla cream on one plate. Add sugar to a second small plate.
- Dip the edge of the martini glass in the vanilla cream. Coat all of the rim lightly.
- Dip the wet rim into the sugar.
- Strain the cocktail into the martini glass.
