Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets

This homemade gluten free ranch chicken nuggets recipe is made either in your air fryer or oven. They are crispy and full of flavor. Kids will go crazy over them!

  • 1 pound chicken breasts raw
  • cup ranch dressing * see note
  • cup gluten free bread crumbs * see note
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese grated


  • If you are baking these in an oven, preheat your oven to 375º F. See the Notes section for oven directions.
  • Cut the chicken breasts into chicken chunks and put into a mixing bowl.
  • Pour the ranch dressing over the chicken and mix to coat the chicken evenly.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the chicken to marinate for at least 15 minutes. You can cover them and put them into the refrigerator overnight if you plan to meal prep these for the next day.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400º F.
  • Add the bread crumbs and parmesan to a bowl and mix well.
  • Put 4-5 chicken chunks into the bread crumb mixture and toss to coat them evenly with bread crumbs.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil (do not use olive oil!) and add coated chicken to the basket. Make sure to have space between each nugget so air can circulate around each one. This will help make your nuggets crispier.
  • Spray the top of the nuggets with oil and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the basket when they are done and check the internal temperature of the largest nuggets to ensure they are 165º F.

  1. Ian's and Alexia both make great gluten free bread crumbs. It is also easy (and cheaper) to make your own gluten free bread crumbs from scratch.
  2. There are several brands of ranch dressing that are gluten free. I use Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing in this recipe, but LiteHouse and Newman's Own are also delicious.
  3. You can use boneless chicken thighs if you have those on-hand. And if you want to get creative, chicken wings!
Oven or toaster oven instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375º F. Follow all of the same directions to prep, marinate, and coat the nuggets. Line the bread crumb-coated nuggets up on a parchment paper-lined baking dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on how large your chicken nuggets are. Check the internal temperature on a couple of the largest nuggets to ensure they are 165º F.
