Equipment

  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 portobello mushroom caps
  • ¼ cup pasta sauce
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grape tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons pepperoni 8 slices
  • 2 tablespoon parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400º F for 5 minutes.
  • Wash your portobello mushrooms and remove the stems. Put the portobello mushroom caps in the air fryer. Cook the mushrooms for 5 minutes with no fillings.
  • NOTE: If you have a cracked portobello mushroom, set it at a slight angle in the air fryer away from the crack so the pizza filling doesn't melt out when the portabello cooks.
  • Add the pizza sauce, pesto sauce, salsa, or any sauce you are using
  • Add cheese, toppings, and dried basil to each mushroom.
  • Cook the mushrooms for another 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly golden. The more toppings you have the longer it will need to cook.

Notes

Topping Ideas:

  • Sliced tomatoes and or green bell peppers.
  • Pepperoni, sausage, and other traditional pizza meats.
  • Pineapple and ham for a Hawaiian pizza.

Sauce Ideas:

Oven Baking Directions:

No air fryer? No problem. Wash and remove the stem from your portobello mushrooms the same way as instructed but bake it at 400º F for 10 minutes. Remove it from the oven and drain any liquid. Add your pizza toppings and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

SPECIAL NOTE

Please know that every gluten free flour blend has a different starch to grain ratio. If you use a blend I didn't test, you may need to adjust your moisture levels in your baked goods.
