Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream * see note
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese * see note
  • fresh basil or parsley optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a pan, heat olive oil for 2 minutes over low heat. Add the minced garlic.
  • For best results, continue to simmer the sauce on low heat. Add the heavy cream and a splash of more olive oil. Turn up the temperature to medium-low heat and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer for 4-5 minutes.
  • Turn the head down to low and sprinkle in parmeasan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer 2 minutes and drizzle on vegetables, or toss into cooked pasta.

Notes

  1. Feel free to use fresh basil or dried.
  2. You need to use heavy cream. Do not use half and half.
  3. This homemade Alfredo sauce is great on pasta, vegetables, a pizza sauce, or for a white lasagna.
  4. I have not tested this recipe with dairy-free or vegan ingredients.
Storage:
Store this homemade gluten free alfredo sauce in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can also freeze this sauce! Make a large pot of alfredo sauce and freeze it in either Souper Cubes for family portions, or freeze in an ice cube tray for single-serving portions.

SPECIAL NOTE

Please know that every gluten free flour blend has a different starch to grain ratio. If you use a blend I didn't test, you may need to adjust your moisture levels in your baked goods.
