Allergen Information:
This creamsicle smoothie recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free. It is vegan, but you can use regular milk if you are not dairy-free.
Ingredient Notes:
- Oranges – Feel free to use any type of oranges including blood orange or cara cara!
- Honey – Any honey is a good sweetener if you want this smoothie to be sweeter. There is no need to use expensive honey for this smoothie recipe.
- Optional Protein Powder – I like to use Orgain, Great Lakes Collagen Protein, or Garden of Life. Always check the labels to make sure the ones you choose are gluten free!
- Milk – You can use any milk or non-dairy milk. I do not recommend canned coconut milk.
This Vitamix is one of my favorite kitchen appliances of all time. I use it to make soup, ice cream, sorbet, smoothies, cream sauces, and more. It is quick and powerful. Clean up is also really easy!
Step-By-Step Directions:
Step 1: Peel and chop your oranges. Remember to remove any seeds!
Step 2: Add the orange pieces to the blender.
Step 3: Add the rest of the ingredients to your blender (milk, honey, and optional protein powder), and blend on high speed until thick and creamy. To avoid getting off flavors from the protein powder, I love to use this unflavored Collagen Protein; it is flavorless and adds a nice creaminess to this smoothie recipe.
If you use a high-powered blender, such as a Vitamix or NutriBullet, you can add the honey directly with the other ingredients.
🔑 Sandi says: Depending on how powerful your blender is, many find it easier to whip the honey into the milk before adding it to the blender. The honey can stick to the sides of your blender and not mix into the smoothie well.
Step 4: Add some ice cubes. Put the lid on and blend for 45 seconds until fully blended.

Can I substitute 4 small oranges for two big oranges?
Hi Gloria, this is totally fine 🙂
How much ice and can you reduce the honey measurement
You can use any amount of honey you like I use about a cup of ice. It really depends how thick and frozen you like it. You can use more ice if you like it very frozen.
I love creamsicles!!! I will try this!

Creamsicles are my FAVORITE! And drinking one for breakfast? Oh my goodness, YES!

Do you think this would work with other fruits? Looks yummy but allergic to oranges. 🙁
Hi Lyn, this would work with any fruit you can imagine with vanilla 🙂 You may have to figure out the amount a bit, depending on the size of fruit you use.
