It is summer here, and we often use our air fryer or grill to make dinner. The oven heats up the house so much, and our old air conditioning unit just doesn’t do much to justify using the oven. The air fryer is also portable, provided you have access to outdoor electrical outlets. You can run the air fryer outside if you’re cooking something with a strong smell, such as fish.

Ingredient Notes:

For the full list of ingredients and amounts, please go to the recipe card below.

  • Chicken – I used chicken breasts. You can use any cut of meat, but if you use bone in chicken, it will need longer to cook. You will want to use vegetables that need longer to cook.
  • Seasoning/Sauces – Be sure your seasonings are gluten-free. McCormick and Badia label their spices, and Penzey’s spices are also gluten-free. See below for a list.
  • Oil – You will need to use a high-smoking point oil like avocado or canola. Olive oil can get rancid in the air fryer due to the high temperature. To learn more about high-heat oil, read my guide to the best air fryer oils.
  • Vegetables – Use any you love. I have a handy list of my favorites below.

Seasoning Ideas:

  • I love to use Penzey’s chicken seasoning blends. McCormick also sells several flavors.
  • Simple Organics makes an Italian blend of dried herbs that are great for chicken and vegetables.
  • Zaitarains Cajun Seasoning.
  • Pesto – Slather it on before cooking.
  • Barbecue Sauce – I like to use Kinder’s mild sauce, Sweet Baby Rays, and Stubbs BBQ sauces. These are all gluten-free.
  • Olive Oil and Garlic – These are a great combination for flavor, and you can add fresh thyme or basil.
  • Taco Seasoning – I like to use this for a bolder flavor.
  • Ranch Dressing – I like to use Litehouse Homestyle Ranch. It is gluten-free and full of flavor. (It is usually in the refrigerated section in the produce department in the grocery store.)
