Fresh summer figs are nature’s candy; tender, sweet, and bursting with delicious flavor. Grilling them brings out their jammy richness, caramelizing the fruit just enough to make the inside soft and warm. Add a wedge of creamy brie to the center and a drizzle of honey on top, and you’ve got an irresistible appetizer that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

A Note From My Kitchen
Fresh figs are only around for a short time each summer, so I try to enjoy them in as many ways as possible. Grilling them brings out their natural sweetness and makes them even more flavorful. I like to thread the figs onto skewers so they don’t fall through the grill. You can use any fig variety, but Mission and Brown Turkey are easiest to find, but if you ever spot Candy Stripes, grab them! Just be sure your grill grates are clean so the figs don’t pick up any smoky meat flavors.
Ingredient Notes:
- Figs – Use any variety of fresh, ripe figs.
- Brie – Creamy and mild, use any brand.
- Honey – I love using orange blossom honey, but any local honey tastes great.
- Olive Oil – I brush a little on so the figs don’t burn.
How to Make Grilled Figs and Brie (Step-By-Step)

Step 1: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes so they don’t burn on the grill. If you are using a metal skewer, skip the soaking step.
Step 2: Wash the figs and trim off the stems. Thread them onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each one.
Step 3: Lightly brush the figs with olive oil. This helps them caramelize and prevents burning.
Step 4: Grill over medium heat with the lid open. Rotate occasionally with tongs until the figs are soft and slightly charred, about 5-6 minutes total.
Step 5: Remove from the grill. Carefully cut a “+” into the top of each fig and gently stuff a small piece of brie into the center.
Step 6: Drizzle honey over the top of the figs. Serve warm.
This recipe will work with any variety of figs. There is something magical about brie and figs. The gooey brie cheese flavors mesh with the sweetness of the figs and honey! If you can only find dried figs, use those in this Fig Chutney Recipe.

Instructions
- Preheat your grill and make sure the surface is clean.
- Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes (if using wooden skewers).
- Thread the figs onto the skewers. I aim to go through the top straight through.
- Lightly brush each side of the figs with olive oil.
- Grill with the lid on the grill open so the figs don't overcook. Grill the figs for 5-8 minutes, using tongs to turn the skewers as they cook.
- When cooked, they will be warm, soft, and caramelized. Let the figs cool for 5 minutes.
- Remove the figs from skewers.
- Make "+" shaped cuts from the top down midway into the fig.
- Stuff each fig with the brie cheese.
- Drizzle honey and then sprinkle cracked pepper on top to taste.
Notes
- Use any variety of figs. Brown Turkey and Mission are the two easiest varieties to find in stores.
- Store any leftover stuffed figs in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last for up to 3 days.
SPECIAL NOTE
Please know that every gluten free flour blend has a different starch to grain ratio. If you use a blend I didn’t test, my rule of thumb is to add more flour if your dough or batter is wet and add more liquid if the dough or batter is too dry!

These were a hit! Nice change from fig and balsamic glaze. Roasted the figs on the stove top . I didn’t have Brie sadly so I substituted a cranberry goat cheese instead. It was delicious!
I am so glad you loved them. I love you added a balsamic glaze!!
