This weekend is the Fourth of July and although we are not able to have our typical big cookout with friends, we are going to celebrate by grilling these gourmet chicken burgers with the kids.
If you have been following my blog for a while, you know we love Foster Farms Chicken and that I use it every week when making family meals. Their air-chilled chicken is full of flavor.
If you aren't familiar with air chilling, it is a special process of cooling the chicken without using water. This means chicken doesn't absorb water and therefore you don't get diluted chicken juices.
Using air chilling has many benefits including better taste and texture, and it cooks so much faster making it perfect for those busy weeknights!
You can find all of Foster Farm's chicken products at your local Safeway and Albertsons Grocery Stores.
The secret of this recipe is garlic butter, lots of it. This allows the flavor to cook into the chicken while keeping it super moist.
For this recipe, I don't use a chicken sauce. I let the chicken sit with melted butter, lemon, garlic, salt, and pepper for about 15 minutes, then continue to baste the chicken breasts in this mixture as it grills.
One of the stars in this recipe are the grilled peaches. I love to grill fruit and include it in recipes. Grilling caramelizes the natural sugars in the fruit and the flavors combine beautifully in this grilled chicken recipe.
What you need to make this recipe:
- Thinly Sliced Chicken Breasts
- Butter - use vegan butter if you are dairy-free
- Garlic - freshly minced or jarred minced garlic are both fine to use.
Recipe step by step directions:
Step 1: Remove the chicken and place it on a plate. Add salt and pepper.
Step 2: Brush the chicken with melted butter and garlic. Allow the chicken to sit for 15 minutes. While you are waiting, preheat the grill. Add sliced peaches to your grill and grill 3 minutes each side.
Step 3: Add the chicken to the grill. Baste the chicken with more of the melted butter and garlic mixture.
Step 4: Grill the chicken for 5 minutes then urn the chicken over and grill another 5 minutes. Check the internal temperature. When your chicken is 165 degrees F, your chicken is done grilling.
Now we are ready for the family to make their grilled chicken filet burgers! Grab a gluten free bun, grilled peaches, mayo and lettuce and make your burgers.
Expert Tips and Recipe FAQ:
Your chicken is cooked when it has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
The secret to a great grilled chicken breast is to marinade it and then baste it while cooking. This is why I baste my chicken several times while it is grilling.

This looks amazing. I can't wait to make it. I have a citrus allergy also. Any suggestions on what to use to replace the lemon. I was thinking balsamic vinegar glaze but, I'm not sure. I would be using vegan butter too.
