Ingredient Notes:
For the full list of ingredients and amounts, please go to the recipe card below.
- Bananas – You can use ripe or semi-ripened bananas.
- Brown sugar – I used brown sugar, but maple syrup or coconut sugar will also work.
- Butter – Use unsalted butter. If you are dairy-free, you can use coconut oil or dairy-free butter.
Step-By-Step Photos and Directions:
Step 1: For best results, line the bottom of your air fryer basket with aluminum foil. Use a fork to poke a lot of holes in it. This will help air circulate the bananas but minimize the clean-up!
Step 2: Place the butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon into a small bowl. Microwave for 25-30 seconds to melt the butter. Mix the sugar mixture with the melted butter with a whisk or a spoon.
Step 3: Peel your bananas and put them onto a cutting board. Slice them lengthwise or in rounds. You can cut them into thick or thin pieces; it is a personal preference.
Step 4: Place the banana slices in the melted brown sugar butter and use a pastry brush to coat the bananas in the sweet mixture. Repeat a couple of times to really coat the bananas. Preheat the air fryer to 375ยบ F.
Step 5: Place the coated banana pieces on the foil in a single layer. Place the foil with the bananas in a Ninja Foodi or another air fryer and set the cooking time for 4 minutes.
Step 6: Open the air fryer tray and flip the bananas to cook the other side. Cook for 3 minutes. If you want your bananas to be really golden brown, cook them for 4-5 additional minutes.
The bananas should be soft and caramelized.
This recipe will keep fresh in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Store in an air-tight container.
