❤️ Sandi’s Recipe Summary

  • Made with just 4 simple ingredients
  • These homemade turmeric chicken wings make a great appetizer or game day snack.
  • These wings are lower in calories because they cook in the air fryer rather than being deep-fried.
  • Even my picky eater loves them.

This easy turmeric chicken wing recipe started out when I was experimenting with some gluten-free game-day recipes. Chicken wings are always popular when we have friends over to watch the Warriors play, so I decided to have some fun.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know how picky my daughter is. She hates protein and would live on cheese and carbs if I let her. I didn’t expect her to eat almost all these wings in one sitting!

A Note From My Kitchen

Testing chicken wings is always fun. I tested this recipe with varying amounts of turmeric, and even with a squeeze of lime. It didn’t take too many batches to get the turmeric ratio just right.

I do want to give you a heads up: Be careful what you touch after holding one of these wings. Turmeric can stain, and I learned the hard way that it can be hard to get out without a good stain remover. I now hold them with a napkin to keep the turmeric and oil off my fingers

Ingredient Notes:

This recipe only requires four simple ingredients.

  • Chicken Wings – Use wings, drumettes, or a combination of both.
  • High Heat Oil – When using an air fryer, it is critical to use an oil with a high smoking point. I used avocado oil to test this recipe. Use this Air Fryer Oil Guide to choose the correct oil.
  • Turmeric and Salt

How to Make Turmeric Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer:

I love to make these Ninja chicken wings in my air fryer. Many ask what the best air fryer is for gluten-free. I love my new larger 8 qt Ninja Foodi Air Fryer. This is the ONLY air fryer that is safe if you are in a household with both gluten-free and non-gluten-free members! The Ninja is better because you can cook many more wings at once.

  1. Place your wings into a large bowl. Sprinkle them with oil, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat them all with the seasoning.
  2. Use metal tongs to place the wings into the air fryer basket of your air fryer. Spray some oil over the wings. Use an oil that is good for high heat. My favorite oils to use are avocado and canola oils.
  3. For best results, ensure there is a little space between each chicken wing so that the air and oil can circulate around each wing. This is what helps them be crispy on the outside all around!
  4. Air fry the wings at 370º F for 12-13 minutes. Ensure the internal temperature is 165º F.

SPECIAL NOTE

Please know that every gluten free flour blend has a different starch to grain ratio. If you use a blend I didn’t test, my rule of thumb is to add more flour if your dough or batter is wet and add more liquid if the dough or batter is too dry!
