Save Time In The Kitchen (My Top Tips)

  1. If I am really busy, I like to buy pre-cut vegetables. I also like to pre-cut vegetables when I buy them. I store them in airtight storage containers in the refrigerator. I love this Amazon basic set because it is inexpensive and of good quality. I only store food in the refrigerator in glass containers.
  2. Chop up garlic, onions, and herbs and put them into ice cube trays or 2-teaspoon Souper Cubes. I like the Souper Cubes because they come with a lid, so no off-flavors get into your cubes. Fill with olive oil and freeze them. They are easy to remove from the container, and you can store them in a freezer-safe zipper bag in the freezer. I store each separately labeled, so I know what is in each bag. I love that you can write in Sharpie on the freezer bags to make it easy.
  3. Use pre-cooked items like rotisserie chicken, cooked chicken strips, etc. A gluten-free rotisserie chicken at Costco is only $4.99. Trader Joe’s sells really good cooked chicken strips called Just Chicken.
  4. Thin cuts of meat cook faster. I like to use a sharp knife to butterfly chicken breasts. Here is a good tutorial if you have never butterflied chicken breast. This can really speed up the cooking time.
  5. Use a rice maker to cook rice and store cooked rice in the refrigerator. I bought this rice cooker three years ago, and it is still going strong! I love that you can use it for Gluten-Free Breakfast Fried Rice or heat it to serve with a meal.
  6. Use leftovers in your next meal. A good example is if you have leftover cooked vegetables, add them to a Gluten-Free Frittata or toss them into a Buddha Bowl.
  7. Buy frozen vegetables. I use frozen vegetables when making gluten-free soup recipes. They save so much time, and because they are frozen right when picked, they retain their nutrients!
